Clive Moody

Clive is a co-founder and а managing partner of dfe partners.

Clive has 20 years experience as an investor in private equity and is a UK national. He spent 16 years with 3i Group plc where he was senior director in 3i's UK southern team which managed a portfolio in excess of £300m. He has an extensive and successful track record of investments across a broad range of sectors as well as including financing SME, Management Buy Outs and Development Capital for private enterprises.

Clive has been closely involved with the formation of the Transformational Business Network, a not for profit organisation that seeks to help the development of business skills in emerging markets. (www.tbnetwork.org)

Opportunity International seeks to achieve this mission through their 'triple bottom line' of financial viability (measured by the sustainability of their programs), outreach (number of clients reached), and transformational impact (measurable impact on their clients). Established Begun in 1971 and organized as the Opportunity Network in 1979, Opportunity International has built an impressive portfolio of banks and non-bank s financial companies and NGOs throughout Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America . Opportunity International has more than quadrupled its active clients from 146,575 in 1998 to 675,588 in 2004. Its active portfolio of micro-loans outstanding at the end of 2004 is close to more than USD 130 million. The total amount of micro-loans made in 2004 was over USD 240 million.

Ken is Presdident of OI's operations responsible for the development and oversight of commercial microfinance institutions within the Opportunity International network. He has directly overseen the creation of 3 new microfinance banks, along with the conversion of 8 NGOs into microfinance banks. He has provided investment banking services to procure debt and equity capital to finance development and growth of these institutions; sponsored creation of Opportunity Transformation Investments Fund; and developed the investment philosophy, policies and strategy for this entity.
